17/5/1915 Britain under attack… in Ramsgate

British forces are attacking the Germans on the Western Front. Now the Germans strike back against Britain itself. Today a Zeppelin crosses the Channel on a night bombing mission in the latest attempt to bring Britain to its knees. It flies to Ramsgate in eastern Kent, dropping a number of bombs. Two people are killed and the Bull and George Hotel is badly damaged. The Zeppelin then turns south, intent on attacking Dover, but it is caught in searchlights and become a target for anti-aircraft fire. The Zeppelin flees out to sea, leaving Dover unharmed… for now.
