5/11/1914 Ypres: Falkenhayn orders more assaults

The Germans have still not managed to take Ypres. They have suffered terrible losses but they have also inflicted ruinous casualties on the mainly British defenders. Falkenhayn is still determined to win the war this year, but he knows that time is running out. When the weather in Flanders breaks, offensive operations will become impossible, and the weather will break soon.

Falkenhayn orders a renewal of the attacks on Ypres. The town must fall, the British army must be destroyed, and then the Germans must sweep on to the Channel ports and bring the war to an end.
