20/8/1914 Gumbinnen: a Russian victory in East Prussia

August von Mackensen is a German general in East Prussia with an amazing hat. He decides to attack the Russian army of General Rennenkampf. The Germans and Russians clash at Gumbinnen. Mackensen has some successes on the Russian flanks, but when he commits his main force to a frontal assault they are bloodily repulsed by the entrenched Russians. The Germans retreat in some disorder.
