2/8/1914 Germany secures Luxembourg

In the early hours of the morning, German troops cross into tiny Luxembourg and secure the country’s railway network. This is presented as a defensive measure. The country does not resist militarily but Prime Minister Paul Eyschen sends a note of protest to Berlin. This is ignored. Luxembourg is then obliged to expel the French ambassador.
