18/7/1914 De Bunsen is convinced of Austria’s pacific intentions

It is Saturday. De Bunsen sends a report from Vienna to London of his conversation yesterday with Berchtold. Despite Lützow’s revelation on Tuesday that Austria-Hungary is planning harsh measures against Serbia, De Bunsen is now convinced by Berchtold’s pacific stance. The ambassador says nothing in his report to suggest that Austria-Hungary might be preparing for war.
